Jan A. van Steenderen is the founder and owner of VSG Commander RI, a consulting & IT firm located in the heart of The Netherlands. He is a results and challenges driven consultant who strives to gain improvements and better results in different kind of industries. With well over 20 years of experience he is able to face the most difficult of problems and finds his reward in solving problems or increasing the results for the companies he serves.
Jan worked for the Dutch Ministery of Defense; The Dutch Royal Navy, Astra Informatica,
Cap Gemini, Ernst & Young, Re-Base Group, Kappé International at Schiphol Airport and many smaller sized companies with an emphasis on Management and IT as a tool to increase business performance. He started his carreer as a business analyst and systems developer & engineer and worked his way up to senior management and executive positions.
He has been accountable for many projects in various consulting roles. Skilled at improvement methodologies he is certificated in General (Project) Management, Infrastructure Management, Information Security ISO/IEC 27002, IT Service Management, Information Systems Design and Development and is well known to Prince2 and ITIL. This gives him the unique ability to spar comfortably with top executives and translate the created strategic objectives into operational goals; thereby closing the often existing gap between (top)management and workforce.
In the last 20 years he has served his clients as vice president, IT director, IT manager,
change manager and various other consulting roles.
Jan received his master of science in General Management from Nyenrode Business University in 2012 (awarded Student of the Class) and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and IT from HTS Polytechnic University in Utrecht in 1996. He is an aviation enthousiast and obtained his Commercial Pilot Licences (CPL – ASEL/AMEL, IR & AGI) from Aviator College of Aeronatical Science & Technology and Northwest Aviation College.
He is an active member of the VRI -the Dutch Counsel for Registered IT Professionals-, Mensa -the High IQ Society- and secretary for the Re-Base Foundation. In his sparse free time he enjoys flying and instructing, studying, photography and playing a variety of musical brass instruments in various classical orchestra’s.
